Subject: Thank You
Mrs.Diane Carpenter
I would like to sincerely thank you for accepting
me as a patient at your facility. Being a paraplegic and then having such an extensive
amount of surgery on my right shoulder, as you and your staff has seen, has left
me pretty much immobile in areas such as transferring, dressing, and showering. Dr
Saviou at Tulane, the doctor who did my surgery, explained to me that my arm would
have to be totally non weight bearing for 8 weeks because the damage was considered
to be a 3rd degree repair which is considered a very extensive procedure do to the
depth of the tears and the amount of tears I had. To make a long story short, his
staff informed me that the way insurance and all worked with Tulane Hospital I would
be able to stay there up to 17 days. The doctor,. however, was not comfortable at
all with the fact I would be going home where I would be alone with no assistance.
I was at a dead end and in extreme pain and discomfort and we began to explore what
avenues were available where I could be placed that could provide me with the needed
assistance while I healed for the remaining time after the allotted 17 days at Tulane.
I discovered, along with the help of a case worker at Tulane, that my Medicare insurance
would pay for 20 days at a facility such as the one here at Lakeview. I must admit
at first the idea of being placed in what many consider an "old folks home" was very
discouraging and quite disturbing to be honest with you. But I had no choice because
my life was no longer productive in the condition I was in and the pain was unbearable.
My stay here has been an absolute awesome experience. It is nothing like I imagined
at all. You along with your staff and Dr. Blanks are an incredible bunch of people.
Everyone from office workers to the nurses, aids, activities, and even laundry and
maintenance have treated me with the utmost professional courtesy and assistance.
My time here so far has been an absolute pleasure and truly a blessing. I would highly
recommend your facility to anyone in need of the services you provide. Once again
I would like to thank you for accepting me and allowing me the help I need along
my way to recovery. I have made lifelong friends here and some of the most caring
and compassionate people our beautiful gulf coast has to offer.
Thanks to all,
Darian
